Napoleon and Josephine at Malmaison
The home to Napoleon Bonaparte and an unofficial seat of French government, Malmaison should also be remembered as the home of Josephine. With the hippest artists and artisans money could buy at the time, the Empress restored the chateau and created elaborate gardens, still famous today. Campaign furniture was even used to give the château an "aura of military conquest". Today, Malmaison is a museum and a must-see!
